Carefree freedom
A high-performance, compact ultra-wide-angle zoom with a constant aperture of F2.8
The SIGMA 16-28mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary full-frame Lens combines outstanding image quality and a large constant aperture of F2.8 with a robust yet lightweight design. It thus opens up new scope for L-mount and Sony E-mount photographers who expect professional results from a compact product.

Thanks to an excellently corrected field curvature, the 16-28mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary provides sharp images right into the corners of the frame, which is crucial for many applications in the wide-angle range. Five FLD lenses and four aspherical lenses ensure optimum image quality with a minimum of aberrations. An internal zoom mechanism ensures that the length of the Lens remains the same over the entire focal length range and that it is always well balanced in the hand. The fact that the center of gravity hardly shifts when zooming is also an advantage for mounting in a gimbal.

A thread on the front simplifies the use of filters. The Lens has an unusually compact design. With a weight of only 450g, it measures just 100.6mm*, so you can always have it with you in everyday photography. It particularly appeals to landscape, wedding and travel photographers who have to carry their equipment around with them for hours on end.

Lightweight, extremely powerful and versatile - the SIGMA 16-28mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary gives photographers all the freedom they need in the ultra-wide-angle range.
* Dimensions and weight refer to the lens with L-mount.

Key features:
1.
Uncompromising optical performance with compact dimensions
Optimized with the latest technology in lens design, the 16-28mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary is a high-performance lens that delivers outstanding image quality despite its compact dimensions. Two large aspherical elements and five optimally used FLD lenses, whose material has the properties of fluorite glass, keep weight and dimensions to a minimum. The high-quality lenses also ensure effective correction of longitudinal and lateral chromatic aberrations, which often impair the image quality of other ultra-wide-angle designs. In addition, the lens utilizes the digital correction capabilities of modern cameras to deliver impressive image quality with small dimensions.

The constant aperture of F2.8 over the entire zoom range enables shots with a shallow depth of field and beautiful background blur, especially for close-up subjects. Blur circles are soft and round thanks to the nine rounded aperture blades, so that the background does not distract from the sharp foreground subject.

SIGMA has also taken extensive measures against ghosting and flare caused by reflections in the lens barrel. The Super Multi-Layer Coating guarantees that the 16-28mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary produces crisp images with high contrast even in critical backlight situations.

2.
Practical design for more flexibility and ease of use
The new 16-28mm has a filter thread on the front lens, which makes it easier to attach ND and polarizing filters, for example, than a rear filter adapter. This benefits landscape photographers and videographers in particular.

The choice of a stepping motor for focusing the 16-28mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary makes the autofocus as fast as it is silent, making the lens ideal for photo and film shoots in situations where focusing noise would be distracting.

Due to its internal zoom, the length of the lens remains the same over the entire focal length range and its center of gravity hardly shifts when zooming. Especially when the camera is mounted in a gimbal, it is useful that it remains balanced when the focal length is changed. The internal zoom also enables a compact design with a length of 100.6mm, a diameter of 77.2mm and a low weight of only 450g*. This means that the lens can even hold its own in a comparison with slower wide-angle zooms with an aperture of F4.

Combined with the SIGMA 28-70mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary, the new wide-angle zoom allows the ultra-wide-angle to light telephoto range to be covered with just two lenses. With a total weight of only 920g, this duo forms an extremely versatile, compact system with a continuous aperture of F2.8.
* The sizes and weights refer to the lens with L-mount.

3.
Outstanding manufacturing quality and intuitive ergonomics
The lens construction uses specially selected, particularly lightweight materials, including TSC (Thermally Stable Composite), a polycarbonate with a thermal expansion similar to that of aluminum. This allows the lens to maintain its high performance even under extreme temperature fluctuations, as the metal and plastic parts expand and contract at the same rate.

The precision in the manufacture of each individual component and the simple elegance of the finished product are due to the skill and experience of the employees, SIGMA's unique manufacturing technology and the rigorous quality control at SIGMA's only production facility in Aizu, Japan.

The lightweight and compact 16-28mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary is a complex yet versatile tool that offers photographers and filmmakers the perfect combination of performance and portability.

Hands on the new Sigma 70-200mm F2.8 DG DN OS S

Sigma's 70-200 f/2.8 is a strong competitor to lenses from Sony and Panasonic. The attractive price of €1,699 RRP makes the Sigma a worthwhile alternative, especially in comparison to the 70-200 2.8 from Panasonic and Sony's new G-Master, which is significantly more expensive.
