Between 1984 and 2016, Canon produced 120 million of the EF range, making it the world's largest lens manufacturer. The lens is considered the most important component of photographic equipment.
Different subjects require different types of glass. When shooting fast-moving subjects that are also farther away from the location, a Canon telephoto lens 100 mm to 300 mm is recommended. With a fast autofocus and an aperture that is as large as possible, the necessary short exposure times can be achieved. For landscape photography, excellent results can be achieved with both a wide-angle lens and a telephoto zoom lens. A Canon macro is not only suitable for close-up shots, it can also be used as an all-rounder. Those who deal more intensively with architectural photography will hardly get around the tilt-shift variant. This allows the shooting axis to be tilted and shifted in relation to the film axis, thus avoiding perspective distortions. In portrait photography, the most important thing is to use the widest possible aperture in order to focus on the face and let the background disappear into the bokeh. A Canon lens with a focal length between 50 mm and 100 mm is ideal here. A fixed focal length has its advantages in all areas of photography. Many professionals work exclusively with it and achieve better results with its consistently high light intensity.
Which lens series is used depends first of all on the camera used. With the appropriate adapters, Canon models can even be used on cameras from other manufacturers.
